In Delhi, vehicles will not be penalized for non-installation of high security number plate. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has issued orders not to take action.

Kailash Gahlot also held a high-level meeting with all stakeholders to address public grievances in this matter. The meeting was also attended by top officials of Department of Transport, National Informatics Center (NIC) along with other stakeholders such as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) manufacturers.

During the meeting, the Transport Minister discussed the problems faced by the vehicle owners in fitting High Security Number Plate (HSRP) on their vehicle. He instructed the OEM manufacturers to create a system for resolving the complaints of vehicle manufacturers.

He also instructed not to book any new appointment for HSRP fitment till proper arrangements are implemented. Also, the transport department was instructed not to implement the HSRP rules till further orders.

After the meeting, the Transport Minister said that our aim is to provide convenience to the public. It was misinterpreted by a section of the people that the Delhi government was going to implement the HSRP rule immediately. This has caused panic among the vehicle owners.

The Delhi government has asked the dealers and HSRP manufacturers not to give any time to impose HSRP until the correct system is implemented. Apart from this, the government will give vehicle owners enough time to apply HSRP and colour coded stickers before implementing HSRP rules.
